OWAMBE

This 3-D mixed media sculpture represents a Nigerian woman adorned for a three-day celebration of life known as an Owambe. An Owambe can be a wedding, a birthday or simply a coming of age. A typical Owambe is characterized by music, dance, food and fashion as depicted by the festive gele head wrap. The sculpture is plaster cast and finished in iron.
