MALI

Mali, located in West Africa, originated the art of face painting. The white dots symbolize hope, purity and light. The cloth background is authentic mud cloth woven in Mali. The earrings and necklace are actual 1936 coinage used in Africa. This frame was custom made in Marrakesh, Morocco and is detailed by animal bone forming the tiles and the black segments dyed with henna ink. This 3-D mixed media sculpture is plaster cast and finished in iron.
